How do you distress a guitar?
I’m trying to give my guitar an old vintage distressed look. Just kind of wrecked. I don’t want to dive into the paint without know exactly how you do it. Any ideas?
obviously i know that you can play it forever and it will give it the effect. I’m not looking to do that. I know its possible, people do it all the time. I’m just wondering how it is done.
Simply take all the hardware off and put a sander to it to get rid of the thick, shiny lacquer. Sand a little extra in arbitrary areas to give the worn out effect; mostly around the edges and strum path where most wear actually does occur on its own. Rub the guitar down with a damp cloth and put the hardware back on. After a while the un-laquerd wood will begin to get dirty on its own giving the effect of an old, worn guitar.
